Today we are gonna take a look at whey protein shakes. Whether it’s worth spending your money on them or not.
What are whey protein shakes?
- Whey protein is a byproduct of dairy manufacturing.
- And that for many years it was thrown away as a waste byproduct.
Let’s find out what are those reasons to not to buy a protein shake.
1. If you can have your daily protein requirement with foods
There are no magical foods or supplement in the world.
Whatever you consume your body only sees calories, protein, fat, carbs, fiber, amino acids, etc.
Meaning it doesn’t matter if your eating high protein foods to meet your daily protein requirement or drinking protein shake.
As long as you meet your daily protein reuirement you can see results.
How much protein do you need per day?
- If your an average person who is looking to live a healthy life. then your gonna need to consume around 0.8 to 1 gram per kilogram to meet your daily requirement.
- For people wanting to lose weight or body fat while preserving lean body mass. eating roughly 1.6 grams to 2.3 grams per kilogram of body weight will be enough.
people wanting to bulk, surprisingly the studies tend to favor protein amounts lower than your weight loss.
- Intake of 1.2 to 2.2 grams per kilogram of bodyweight id the perfect range for bulking.
What I want you to understand guys as long as you comfortably meeting your daily protein requirement based on the goals you don’t need to spend money on protein shakes.
And protein shakes will not bring you any magical results that you might think.
2. Foods will fill you up more than shakes
If you are looking to lose fat and build muscles having a high protein diet is a must.
When your body is fed with the protein it uses up a lot more energy to break the food source properly.
In other words, eating a high protein diet helps you burn more calories this slow to digest the nature of protein has what the call a thermic effect in the body.
That causes the body to burn off more calories during the process.
Hunger and appetite reduction between meals are major benefits of increasing your protein intake.
Eating more protein helps improve appetite control and reduce the amount of calorie intake later on.
sure you can have some results from filling your protein requirement with a shake.
but the problem with having a protein shake and food is protein powder will not fill you up as high protein foods do.
If your planning to lose weight while building muscles. Having high protein food other than taking on shakes is beneficial.
So try to meet your daily protein intake with high protein foods rather than wasting your money on supplements.
3. Protein shakes Cost more per protein
If you’re on a budget and you want to build some muscles, you need to think twice about spending money on protein powder.
One scoop of whey protein powder (29 grams) will contain only 17 grams of protein and will cost you more than you spend on foods.
Instead you can eat foods like eggs ( 13 grams per one while egg) or chicken breast ( 31 grams per 100 grams).
Like that there are much more cheap protein food options you can find easily. Not only they will give you protein they will give you other vitamins and minerals that your body needs.
And most importantly foods will save you some cash compearing to protein shakes. yet they can bring you the best results that you might not get with a shake.
If your a person who simply can’t afford a supplement you still can get a better body without it.
Most importantly you should focus on your workouts and on your diet.
